rilke

"Things are not all so comprehensible and expressible as one would mostly have us believe; most events are inexpressible, taking place in a realm which no word has ever entered, and more inexpressible than all else are works of art, mysterious existences, the life of which, while ours passes away, endures."

it will hurt

[currently listening to: tiken jah fakoly - ca va faire mal]

I don't know what to say when you show up at my door completely unexpected,
it will hurt more than the bullet scar,
being jammed in a 12 x 8 foot coop with 18 other men,
or numbed by induced euphoria.
I care but,
it will hurt.

10,000 bc... + film spoilers

Last thursday I went to see a free screening of 10,000 BC on campus with the expectation that it was going to bad given the trailers and posters... but WTF, this film was just the biggest load of crap I've ever seen!

Sooooo, apparently civilizations existed 10,000 years ago where cavemen have successfully enslaved woolly effing mammoths to build egyptian pyramids.
- you can go from from snowy ice-age --> tropical forest (inhabited by moas which were only found in new zealad) --> saharan desert in a matter of a few days.
- the egyptians were a bunch of blind albinos
- the sphinx was literally a male lion
- cavemen were able to speak with different accents and communicate with other african tribes via a single translator who lives in a village in the middle of nowhere
- the white caveman saves the world
- corn apparently originated in africa
- arabs are evil
- sabre tooth tigers were overabundant given that whole tribes can wear their teeth on their heads
- cavemen have immaculately white straight teeth
- a white woman with blue eyes is the bringer of all life on earth
- somehow atlantis fits into this movie but i can't remember how

worst of all... the budget for this film was $75 million dollars
$10,000 sure... given the bad acting, terrible cgi effects and bad historical portrayals... but $75,000,000. who the hell invests in this kind of shit?

film school drop out + cliches from dvds lying around the house = 10,000 bc
