Wearing thin and a little frayed at the edges.

I learned from my human anatomy/physiology prof the other day that the current average age for girls getting their first period is 7.5 - 8 years in North America. That factoid alone sent gasps throughout the class. 30 years ago, the average was 15-20 years. This early onset of puberty is probably linked to the body's physiological response to obtaining optimum nutrient/fat levels for child bearing (aka we're getting fatter younger). So what are the implications of child rape cases?

I looked around further and found that the youngest girl to ever give birth was only 5 years old. Her name was Lina Medina and the father of the child to this day, was never known. So scary...
